Isthmian League South East Division

IST

26th April 2025 - 3:00 pm

Deal welcome Broadbridge Heath FC to The Charles Ground on 26th April for a match in the Isthmian League South East Division (IST). Kick off is at 3.00 pm.

This is it then. Our final fixture of our first season back at Step 4. This Saturday we welcome Chris Simmons and his Broadbridge Heath side to the Charles Ground.

CURRENT FORM

Impressively, Deal have hit a great streak of form into the back end of the season, having picked up six wins in seven. A home victory over East Grinstead Town on Saturday was followed up with a 3-0 win on Bank Holiday Monday against local(-ish) Kent rivals Herne Bay.

It now means that a top 10 finish is confirmed, and potentially could be as high as seventh depending on how results go on this final matchday.

29/03/25: Win over Three Bridges (3-0)

05/04/25: Win over Steyning Town (5-2)

12/04/25: Loss to Burgess Hill Town (0-4)

19/04/25: Win over East Grinstead Town (1-0)

21/04/25: Win over Herne Bay (3-0)

Saturday's visitors sit in 12th with 55 points; depending on results they could climb up one place to 11th but could also drop to 14th too.

The Bears are in a slight run of form themselves, with nine points from nice; consecutive victories over Hythe, Sevenoaks and Littlehampton boosted there rise up the table. Infact, it's actually just five defeats in 18 for Broadbridge Heath.

29/03/25: Sheppey United (1-4)

05/04/25: Ramsgate (0-1)

12/04/25: Hythe Town (3-1)

19/04/25: Sevenoaks Town (3-1)

21/04/25: Littlehampton Town (4-0)

ONES TO WATCH

Mark Goldson is the clubs leading goalscorer this season, with 21 goals across all competitions. Broadbridge Heath announced the signing of midfielder/forward Mark Goldson back in September 2024 from Steyning Town, where he had already scored two goals in seven appearances. He scored twenty goals at Steyning Town last season, as they won promotion into the Isthmian League. He will need to be kept quiet on Saturday afternoon!

He is joined by striker Callum Dowdell who has 10 goals to his name this season. The former Lancing and Loxwood man is just ahead of Mason Doughty, Louis Crowl and Matt Hay who are all joint on eight goals.

WIN

opposition history

Broadbridge Heath Football Club was founded in 1919 by local ex-members of the armed forces who had just returned from the 1914-18 Great War. In the very first season of competitive football, with only 12 registered players, the club won the Horsham and District Championship and Challenge Cup.

In 1970-71 the Horsham League amalgamated with the West Sussex Football League and Heath joined Division Three. Promotion was won to Division Two the following season. In 1978-79 following promotion from the Premier Division of the WSFL, Broadbridge Heath joined the Southern Counties Combination League which at that time was a feeder to the Sussex County Football League. The SCCL amalgamated with the County League in 1983-84 with Heath becoming founder members of Division 3

The club moved to the Broadbridge Heath Leisure Centre in Wickhurst Lane in 1987 where we had exclusive use of the stadium pitch, bar and social area. At the end of the 1987-88 season the Club were promoted to senior football in Division 2 for the very first time. Heath remained in senior football for 20 years, with one season (1998-99) in Division One. Despite succeeding on the pitch off the field events deteriorated when the Clubs Landlord decided not to renew the clubs lease to run the bar and social area and for several years with no home and no assets, the Club struggled to survive.
