At last weekend's fixture against AFC Croydon, we once again welcomed Deal Area Foodbank to the Charles Ground. Following on from their website, Business & Marketing Manager Heather Aldred wrote to us to share their positive collection story...

We would like to say a great big 'THANK YOU!' from all of us at Deal Area Foodbank for your generous donation of food raised at the DTFC vs. AFC Croydon on 15th March 2025. The massive 63.10kg of food donations, raised by your wonderful supporters on the day, will make such a huge difference to many local people who are experiencing food poverty and are desperately in need.

 

We have helped over 1,000 families between April and December last year, and this figure unsurprisingly grew 38% from the year before. With the cost of living and food costs still so high, plus many benefits and winter fuel payments being stopped, we are seeing the need to help people in Deal and the surrounding areas increase even further. Support from local superstars like yourselves is vital for us to be able to continue to do the important work we do in our local community.

Looking to the year ahead, we are faced with a large deficit of food to find to sustain the need we are now faced with. We are always looking to fundraise and gain support wherever possible, so please bear us in mind for any future activity we could work with you on….and we’d be so grateful for you to spread the word to your dedicated supporters and corporate sponsors who may also be able to reach out to help us.
