Not quite a full house of action this week as our Women's side were without a game.
Kingy's 1st team delivered the goods in The FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round; a Josh Vincent goal (31') was cancelled out six minutes later by Ibrahim Nagheen, as Egham Town equalised. But 15 minutes from time, up stepped Ashley Miller to send us through to the 3rd Qualifying Round for the first time in 28 years. The draw for the next round takes place at 1pm tomorrow (15/09/25).
Two of our youth teams (U13s and U18s) were in League Cup action, both against Cray Wanderers. Our U14s had a home game against Herne Bay Youth and the U16s had the short away journey over at Ramsgate, both in the Kent Youth League.
It was the U13s, playing at home over at Baypoint, who booked their place in the next round of the Kent Awards League Cup with a 3-0 win. Stennett opened the scoring inside ten minutes, showing strength and composure to beat the keeper. A short corner routine brought the second; King’s cross diverted in by a Cray defender. King then made it 3-0 before half time, finishing calmly after a defensive ricochet. The U13s dominated their first half, creating multiple chances through King, Styles, and Talling. After the break, Deane went close, but Deal focused on protecting their lead. The back three of Beeden, Laval-Chesterton, and Smith stood firm, well shielded by Husk and Ledger in their holding roles. A controlled, physical display saw Deal progress comfortably into the next round.
The U14s were in League action against Herne Bay Youth. Looking to put last week's away loss behind them, they started the game well and, with Dauncy-Turner in fine form, went into the break 3-1 up. Dauncy-Turner, a Strain header and Stennett the goalscorers, the latter making it two goals in two weeks. HBY played some attractive football in the second half, but Deal took their chances; a great solo effort from Kalvitis and Dauncry-Turner with his second goal of the morning meant they came away with a 5-3 win; importantly, their first three points on the board.
Our U16s came out on top of a really competitive battle against Ramsgate, at Southwood. Hoile opened the scoring from a Kimbembe corner, powering a header in from eight yards. Deal doubled the lead with Hill sending Brokans through on goal; Brokan's initial shot was saved before the rebound was fired into the net by Kimbembe, who reacted quickest. Ramsgate pulled a goal back with a deflected clearance, that looped into Deal's net. With five changes from the bench, Deal created more chances and sealed the win with a accurate cross from Kidd-Larsen which was met on the volley from Wolley. That's two wins from two for the U16s.
It was an early exit from the League Cup for the U18s; an early start to entertain an away trip to Cray Wanderers, unfortunately losing a competitive tie. Deans-Kelly, assisted by Gannon, got our consoloation goal. The U18s attention now turns to the FA Youth Cup on Tuesday evening, where they play Whitstable Town (away), following their penalty shoot-out heroics over Ramsgate in the previous round.
